Let’s go Barking ~ At the Beach!

As a child in Maryland, we enjoyed our beach time on the shore of the Atlantic,
so, I still gravitate to the Atlantic side of the states.
I enjoy the Gulf of Mexico too,
however, I take a yearly trip or two to Fernandina Beach, Florida. I feel at home there.
Fernandina Beach is on Amelia Island, and approximately 40 miles
outside of Jacksonville.

It’s quiet, quaint, beautiful! Exactly why I have been visiting for years!
Who knows, maybe someday I’ll retire on Amelia Island!? Who knows.
Yes, I have been here many, many times….

Addison, my newly rescued family member has not!

Addison was quite excited about our beach adventure, he packed up his toys and was ready to travel!
What a great little traveler! We stopped about every two hours
for a little break, and arrived at the beach cool, calm and collected!

Once at the beach, he is ready to go!!
Fernandina Beach is a dog friendly beach, and Addison loved it so much, he may decide to grow up to be a beach dude!
Barking at the plentiful seagulls, pelicans and sand pipers was quite a thrill!
Addison may consider becoming a “beach dude” in the future; however, he will not become a lifeguard!
I couldn’t get him in the water…
not a chance!

Using our newly acquired Bring Fido app, we checked out some Dog friendly Digs. One of our favorites was
Pepper’s Cocina Mexican & Tequila Bar, it was wonderful!
Addison was quite comfortable sitting on the covered porch, under the fan. Perfect place for a quick nap.

The menu served him well, especially the chips!

His next adventure… a dog bakery.
Obviously, a new experience for Addison and
Red bones Dog Bakery is fantastic!
Naturally dog friendly, they offer homemade treats, a variety of dog toys, and dog food as well. What a thrill!
We picked up chilled yogurt doggie treats, they were a
huge hit, Addison loved them!

Addison’s Adventure to the Beach was a tremendous success, we had multiple adventures and
he will be returning again, soon.
In fact, he enjoyed it so much, he has asked if we can return again this fall…
We will see…

Addison definitely gives Fernandina Beach 5 paws! Just please don’t ask him
to swim!

You know, it can be as simple and unexpected as stepping outdoors with your pet that brightens your day…
