It’s the Simplest Things ~

Little Tricks that Matter

With the holidays around the corner, I thought it would be fun to talk about a couple of special touches.
One of my favorite little touches is for the guestroom.

I love to use antique, hand embroidered pillowcases on the guest bed. It is such a lovely, little unexpected surprise
that adds a bit of a special welcome to your overnight visitors.

Another special touch is vintage, linen cocktail size napkins. When serving appetizers, even on the most casual gathering try using cloth cocktail napkins.
They add a little element of surprise and a touch of elegance without being stuffy.
It’s the simplest things….

One of my new favorite little tricks is to decorate my gift bags. It’s creative, fun, and very easy to do.
I will work on my gift bags in the evening while I’m watching TV. Easy Peasy!

I buy brown paper gift bags in bulk, in multiple sizes. I use them a few times a week, so it’s a far more practical
gift giving solution.
I don’t know who invented the gift bag, but it is genius!

Think about it, we give gifts to make someone feel special. It’s just that little
extra “something” that makes the receiver of the gift smile. It truly makes my day!

I have one more “little something” to share that requires no talent!
As you know, I am a tremendous fan of Mother Nature. I have been trying to avoid plastic, buy more things in glass jars…
but what do I do with all of the glass jars? My recycling team doesn’t accept them anymore, so I repurposed some of them!
Take a look!

This is an olive jar, and three spice jars! I wrapped them in jute twine, topping them in ribbon.
I think they look pretty cute and will try different materials next time. These would be great for a “Stop and Drop” of flowers
on a friend’s front porch. They don’t need to return the “vase!”

Again, it’s the smallest things that make a difference. That little touch, that little thoughtful gesture….

Please share some of your special little touches that you have tried, I would love to hear from you!
