Please allow me to introduce you to Ms. Beverly

Ms. Beverly has been in the family for many years. She wasn’t an expensive piece of furniture, but she has served us well!
Beverly was looking tired and in need of some cosmetic enhancements.
Being a creative, I decided to try to enhance her beauty
myself!

I was envisioning a shade of blue, as my living room has many layers of blue tones. I went to the paint store and brought home some samples.
The first sample didn’t suit her, but the second sample suited her beautifully!

Using an eggshell paint finish, I began a painted/rubbed finish using a brush and paper towels. I taped paper behind her scrollwork on the doors and went to work!

Feeling as though Beverly needed a bit more, I decided to try my hand at
wallpapering the back wall.
I ordered two options, one being a bit bolder than the other, I tried the
bold option first.

While I liked the green geometric paper well enough - it wasn’t
perfect. So, I tried the more subtle wallpaper.

The blue wallpaper is fantastic!
I decided that Beverly needed to be dressed differently and changed her “outfit”, changing
the dishes and other accessories to a more neutral tone.

In my overly active imagination, Beverly is related to the singing wardrobe character in the Disney
animated movie, “Beauty and the Beast!”
Can you see the family resemblance?

Now Beverly has recovered a bit of self respect and dignity! I’m quite happy with the makeover!

This was a great first-time project. The most challenging part was the wallpaper, but
I’m pleased with the wallpaper.
Since I downsized, my home is very casual and a piece of painted furniture fits right in with my casual, coastal style!

Please send your DIY furniture makeover projects! I would love to see them!
